I'll be honest, I find these About Me pages awkward to write because truth be told, I'm no different than you. I just happen to be sort of good at pointing my camera at things.
But, in the interest of establishing a connection with you, I suppose I'll start by listing some things that are important to me:
Craft beer
Cats AND dogs
Holding doors for people (it’s literally on my business card)
Chocolate chip cookies
Family and friends
Teaching
Scuba diving
Science-based decision making
Fish
Baseball and football
Sport fishing
Coffee, coffee, coffee
I first seriously picked up a camera in 2010 after finding myself in need of a creative outlet. Since then, I haven't looked back. Today, my photography focuses on conservation storytelling, science communication, and general nature imagery, with a special interest in underwater storytelling. I am passionate about using still photography as a visual communication tool to educate the public about nature. I am especially interested in teaching people about the aquatic world and helping foster greater care and appreciation for life beneath the water's surface. I owe this desire to my background as a fisheries scientist and educator.
